On the 30th of June 2024, H. E. Most Rev. John Francis Doerfler(Bishop of Marquette, Michigan, USA) celebrated his first Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4th Ridge, Cape Coast as part of his first visit to Ghana. He came with his Vicar General Rev. Fr. Timothy Ekaitis and Rev. Fr. Daniel Fosu, a Ghanaian priest from the Konogo-Mampong Diocese who has been a Priest in Marquette, USA for 2years. Before H.E. Most Rev Fr. John Doerfler presided over the Eucharistic Celebration he was given a parade and inspection rites by the Knights of St. John International and Ladies Auxiliary, Cape Coast Chapter. Delivering his Homily for the Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Bishop John Francis Doerfler, encouraged the congregation to come to Jesus so He can heal them of their diseases, problems in marriage, loneliness and isolation, their emotional hurts, and their sins. He will do this through his mercy and forgiveness. The Bishop also assured the congregation that whenever they participate in the Holy Mass, they must present to God all of their sufferings, and all of their wounds and sorrows should be laid before the altar. In return, Jesus who gives Himself to them in the Holy Eucharist will put all their problems upon His shoulders in the form of infinite love that brings peace and healing to unite them with God.
